After finding herself back in hospital again due to an infection and low counts, Alice is feeling deflated and wants to be back at home. After a talk with the doctors however, Alice soon realises she must stay and get better before she can return home, and sure enough, proving everyone wrong, her counts steadily creep back up to normal range! An ecstatic Alice finally returns to her home comforts, but also returns to the ever looming exam results day, causing her to feel a mixture of emotions. The day arrives, and amazingly, Alice gains a sparkling set of grades, despite being extremely ill when sitting them. A post exams party with friends means only one thing…drunken, camp dancing from Jordan! It’s a case of festival fever as Alice has an amazing time at V and Reading, managing to meet one of her favourite bands, Muse. After all the fun of mingling with celebrities, Alice is suitably worn out, but doesn’t stop there…she has a full treatment plan sorted and is already planning a holiday!

Diagnosed in September 2006 with a brain tumour, this is Jonny’s story. 8 months on and we hear about his long and hard journey in detail, as Jonny explains the nasty side effects of treatment and the various operations he has had to have. We get a sneaky peek at the ever appearing and spooky looking radiotherapy mask, now only used at Halloween according to Jonny! Spending a lot of time at home after having to miss college, a vast array of daytime telly was on offer to Jonny, Loose Women and Jeremy Kyle being personal favourites of his. Friends and family play a big part in Jonny’s positivity, as he explains how lucky he feels to have such a supportive network of people around him. After talking about his treatment story, we get to see a rehearsal take place at the Youth Theatre where Jonny and his sister attend and by the sounds of things, he can certainly reach those sparkling top notes!

Aged 17, diagnosed 7 years ago and blasting out of the stereo? S Club 7 of course! Lizzy is certainly all about the 7’s. As she tells her story, we hear about everything from radiotherapy to Teegan the dog, complete with a series of photographs taken at the time. Lizzy also explains how supportive friends and family were during treatment, especially her two brothers, who always managed to keep her entertained and in high spirits. A tour around Lizzy’s room highlights her love for dogs, mainly of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel kind! After hearing more of her story, it’s time to take to the water as Lizzy explains how after she was taught, it’s now her turn to teach children how to sail- both a fun and valuable experience.

Who needs MTV following you around when trusty camera man Bob is at hand to film you as you unleash your home and possessions to the adoring public? Piere Wilkinson certainly doesn’t! Like any credible celebrity these days, film star and cancer patient of the year 2008 Piere opens his doors and gives us regular folk a snapshot of what you can expect when millions of people idolise the ground you walk on! Gold plated baths and home cinema screens it might not be….but since when did the likes of 50 Cent have personalised messages made out of alphabet magnets left on their fridge? There’s a new surprise in every room as our resident comedy king carries on doing what he does best- rolling out the laughs and making fun of Bob of course. As the tour comes to and end and Bob is given his marching orders, there’s only one thing left to ponder upon…in years to come will we be watching Piere have his very own slot on the genuine Cribs?!

It’s been nearly two years since Richard last made a film here on Jimmyteens, but fear not, he’s back in style with the epic release of “Mask Wars”…Darth Vader beware! A lot has happened since filming back on the dreaded D9 and Richard talks us through the latest on his treatment situation, with a 2 week course of precautionary radiotherapy on his head looming. After enduring intense radiotherapy previously, Richard reminisces about the last couple of years and prepares for the coming weeks of treatment. Day one of radiotherapy arrives and we’re not getting left behind! We get a guided tour, from house to hospital as Richard waits to get started, assisted by mum and sister, who would prefer to stay on the other side of the camera! As things progress, we follow Richard over the course of the next few days, as he takes a trip to the Wallace Cancer Care Centre and takes a well deserved break from the stresses of treatment in relaxing surroundings. As Richard finishes his last lot of treatment, he sits down for a nice cup of tea….hopefully planning his next film instalment!

As Alice starts her first cycle of chemo, we get a lowdown of how things are going during her stay in hospital. Alice is excited at the thought of being discharged and keeps in high spirits as she completes the first hurdle. Back at home, it’s a nice change from the hospital walls and time for another trip to the seaside for Alice and family where fresh sea air comes as a welcome break from the lovely fumes of hospital! As chemo kicks in, Alice begins to feel the side effects and unfortunately finds herself back in hospital after a high temperature and low neutrophils mean that a close eye has to be kept on things. Now back on the adult ward again and feeling miserable, Alice explains how a teenage unit is desperately needed for young people so their time in hospital is made considerably more comfortable. With chemo comes side effects and then cravings…this time it’s Cuppa Soup for Alice!

Glitter, dancing and semi clothed men…sounds like a fun night out for Tabitha, Stephanie and Kate! We follow them us they go and see the one and only Kylie Minogue live in concert…although we can’t actually see the concert bit…I should be so lucky! A full review of the concert in question is given however, including all the costume changes, song numbers and marks on Kylie’s performance. As the night rounds off, the girls are left with only one thing to say….wow wow wow wow!

It’s nearly two years to the day since Alice was first diagnosed and although she finds herself in a similar situation treatment wise, she is more determined than ever. As radiotherapy on her head does its job, Alice’s hair begins to fall out until she can’t bear the itch any longer and gets it all shaved off. Race for life day arrives as Alice and her mum proudly walk the walk for Rhabdo and successfully reach the finish line, an achievement in itself! Pain in Alice’s back causes concern until a series of scans reveal the underlying problem- a tumour in her spine and frustratingly, it’s back in her bone marrow once more. Never one to stay down for long, Alice isn’t looking forward to more chemo, but is eager to start treatment and start fighting again. As Alice talks us through her treatment plan, she explains how frustrated and shocked she feels at the thought of the cancer being back in her bone marrow and can’t understand why it keeps coming back. Instead of a Hickman line, this time round Alice has a portacath fitted in preparation for chemo and starts to get ready for her time in hospital, which surprisingly Alice is looking forward to, mainly so she can get it done and get on with her life once more.
